New innovation in social media for hairdressers set to launch in September
Mo and Karim Nabbach have created ExposureBox.com in response to a gap in the market for a social network for hairdressers, photographers, models, stylists and make-up artists. To celebrate the launch, ExposureBox.com will be holding a party on Thursday September 22 at 7.30pm at Westbourne Studios, London. The launch will include the chance to see an exclusive video of the making of a shoot with Errol Douglas doing the hair, Desmond Murray doing photography and Bernard Connolly styling. Open to all hairdressers, MUAs, photographers, stylists, journalists and anyone in related creative industries; come along and join us for drinks and food; goody bags will be sponsored by Revlon. Members of the site already include the likes of Errol Douglas, Lee Stafford and Michael Barnes, and photographers Martin Evening and John Rawson.
Mo says, “Exposure Box gives you a chance to exhibit your work to a worldwide audience. It’s a productive social networking site that allows you to collaborate, inspire and be inspired by people. The potential for your business includes session work bookings, including from outside of the hair industry (for example, my work was seen by the production manager for photographer Alison Jackson who hired me to do the hair for her book, and a shoot with Time Out magazine), while for hairdressers with less experience you can get tips on how to do your first shoot. By asking questions of the hairdressers, MUAs and photographers you admire you are effectively learning from their mistakes and saving time and money when you get into the studio for the first time.
“Hairdressers want to have control over their work, comment on other people’s work, ask questions, get opinions. A person on ExposureBox who is being asked how things are achieved gets an indication of what people love, which could form the basis for a workshop or a video. The feedback can give you an insight into how to market your work. We’ll be putting up step-by-step videos – I always feel that when we look at magazines and wonder how an image was created it would be amazing to ask the hairdresser – on ExposureBox you can ask, and if you can see a video then you’re getting an invaluable learning experience.“
By showcasing your talent you will be seen by some of the best photographers, hairdressers and make-up artists in the world. You’re not just exposed to the hair industry, but the fashion industry as well. You can hook up with like minded creatives to work on test shoots without paying agency fees, post your casting calls, the possibilities are endless! You’ll also be able to learn from other industries, for example, they’ll be putting up tutorials on things like retouching, plus other practical tips and tutorials. ExposureBox updates can even go onto your facebook page to save you posting things twice. Sign up now for free!
